Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 45:2C-7

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
7. A person who is not licensed under this act shall not practice acupuncture, hold himself out as practicing acupuncture, or use a title or description, including the following: L.Ac; Licensed Acupuncturist; C. A.; Certified Acupuncturist; Acupuncturist; or any other letters or words denoting that the person so practices acupuncture. A person who is participating in an approved course of study or school in acupuncture may practice acupuncture under conditions established by the board.

The State Board of Medical Examiners may suspend or revoke a license to practice medicine and surgery, upon proof to its satisfaction that the holder thereof practiced acupuncture contrary to the provisions of this act or employed a person who practiced acupuncture without licensure.
