New Jersey Statutes 46:30D-5. Notice to lender of intention to terminate a loan of property

- certified mail: include private express carrier service, provided that the private express carrier service provides confirmation of mailing. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. If the museum identifies the lender or a potential claimant and the last known address of the lender or potential claimant, the notice shall be sent to the lender or potential claimant by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the last known address. Notice shall be deemed given if the museum receives a return receipt showing delivery to the lender or potential claimant within 30 days of the mailing of the notice. The date of a notice shall be deemed to be the date of delivery to the person to whom it was sent.
b. A notice of intent to terminate a loan of property sent to the lender or a potential claimant pursuant to subsection a. of this section shall include, in addition to the information required by subsection b. of section 4 of this act, a statement indicating:
the intent of the museum to terminate the loan;
the date of the notice;
that the lender or potential claimant must contact the museum in order to establish title to or an interest in the property and make arrangements to take possession of the property; and
that failure to contact the museum within 180 days after the date of the notice will result in the loss of title to or an interest in the property pursuant to section 7 of this act.
