Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 48:24-14

  • Adjourn: A motion to adjourn a legislative chamber or a committee, if passed, ends that day's session.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
14. If the total number of members of a rural electric cooperative shall exceed 1,000, then at least 100 of the members present in person shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business at all meetings of members. In the case of a joint membership, the presence at a meeting of either joint member or both shall be regarded as the presence of one member. If less than a quorum is present at any meeting, a majority of those members present in person may adjourn the meeting from time to time without further notice.
