Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 54:8-6
- Mortgagee: The person to whom property is mortgaged and who has loaned the money.
- Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
- State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
If the owner or mortgagee of any land concerning which an action is brought resides out of the State and cannot be served personally within the State, service of process may be made upon a tenant or occupant.
