- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 10. a. A violation of any of the provisions of this act shall be an unlawful practice and a violation of P.L.1960, c.39 (C. 56:8-1 et seq.).
b. In order to enforce the provisions of this act, the director may conduct examinations of any provider, administrator, seller, or other person subject to the provisions of this act. Upon request by the director, a provider, administrator, seller, or other person shall make any accounts, books, papers, documents and other records required and maintained pursuant to section 9 of this act available to the director for inspection which are necessary to enable the director to reasonably determine compliance with this act.
