Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 56:3-15

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Any person or corporation engaged in manufacturing soda waters, mineral or aerated waters, porter, ale, beer, cider, ginger ale, milk, cream, ice cream, ice cream mixtures or compounds or any other similar product frozen substantially to the consistency of ice cream, small beer, lager beer, weiss beer, white beer, near beer, or other beverages or medicines, medical preparations, perfumery, oils, compounds or mixtures, or any person or corporation engaged in bottling or selling any of the above-named articles or products in bottles, barrels, half-barrels, quarter-barrels, boxes, kegs, siphons, tins, ice cream containers, packages, wrappers, cabinets, refrigerators, equipment, or other receptacles or containers, upon which his or its name, or other marks or devices used by him or it, are branded, stamped, engraved, etched, blown, embossed, impressed, or otherwise produced, may register his or its name, mark or device in the manner hereinafter provided, and, upon completing such registration and the publication required by sections 56:3-16 and 56:3-17 of this title, shall be deemed the proprietor of such name, mark or device and of every container upon which such name, mark or device may be branded, stamped, engraved, etched, blown, embossed, impressed or otherwise produced.
