Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 56:8-30

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 5. The director shall require the applicant for a certificate of registration to engage in the business of reselling tickets as a ticket broker to file with the application a bond in the amount of $10,000.00 with two or more sufficient sureties or an authorized surety company, which bond shall be approved by the director.

Each bond shall be conditioned on the promise that the applicant, his agents or employees will not be guilty of fraud or extortion, will not violate any of the provisions of this act, will comply with the rules and regulations promulgated by the director, and will pay all damages occasioned to any person by reason of misstatement, misrepresentation, fraud or deceit or any unlawful act or omission in connection with the provisions of this act and the business conducted under this act.
