At the time of filing a declaration of candidacy for the office of representative, a candidate shall reside in the district for which the candidate files. Thereafter, if a representative permanently removes the representative’s residence from or maintains no residence in the district from which the representative was elected, the representative shall be deemed to have resigned, and a successor shall be selected as provided in Section 4 [2-7F-4 N.M. Stat. Ann.] of the 2021 House Redistricting Act.
