Each applicant for a license to practice optometry as provided in N.M. Stat. Ann. Chapter 61, Article 2 who successfully passes the examination for licensure, possesses the required educational qualifications and meets other requirements of the Optometry Act or regulations adopted pursuant to that act is entitled to a license that carries with it the title “doctor of optometry”.
