A. The state transportation commission shall place and maintain such traffic-control devices, conforming to its manual and specifications, upon all state highways as it deems necessary to indicate and to carry out the provisions of N.M. Stat. Ann. Chapter 66, Article 7 or to regulate, warn or guide traffic.

- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
B. No local authority shall place or maintain any traffic-control device upon any highway under the jurisdiction of the state transportation commission except by permission of the commission.
