Untranscribed verbatim records of protest hearings shall be retained until after transcription, if transcription is required to support an appeal, or until the time for a protestant to appeal an order under Section 7-38-28 N.M. Stat. Ann. has expired and the protestant has not appealed.

- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
