As of July 1, 2013, the secretary of state, pursuant to Article 11, § 19 of the constitution of New Mexico, shall assume responsibility for chartering corporations as provided by law, including the performance of the functions of the former corporations bureau of the public regulation commission. As used in Chapter 53, Articles 1, 2, 4 through 6, 7B, 8, 11 through 14 and 16 through 20 NMSA 1978, except for Subsection D of Section 53-5-8 N.M. Stat. Ann., references to the “public regulation commission”, “state corporation commission” or “commission” shall be construed to be references to the secretary of state.
