§ 126. Awarding of contracts. Contracts for construction, reconstruction or work to be performed under contract for purposes authorized in this article shall be awarded by the county superintendent of highways with the approval of the chairman of the board of supervisors, except where the board of supervisors, by resolution, determines that any or all such contracts shall be awarded by such board or by the county purchasing agent; and the provisions of Article 5-A of the general municipal law shall apply to such contracts. Notwithstanding any other general or special law any such contract may be let to a town board without submitting the contract to competitive bidding.
