Under the New York Laws, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |

A person is guilty of criminal diversion of medical cannabis in the second degree when he or she sells, trades, delivers, or otherwise provides medical cannabis to another with knowledge or reasonable grounds to know that the recipient is not registered under Article 3 of the cannabis law.
Criminal diversion of medical cannabis in the second degree is a class B misdemeanor.
