§ 205. Access to personal information. Except as otherwise provided by law, a state agency shall provide users with access to all personal information pertaining to such user which has been collected through its state agency website. Access to such personal information and the opportunity to request correction or amendment of such personal information shall be provided to users in the manner provided for access to and correction or amendment of personal information under § 95 of the public officers law. A state agency shall provide a user access to such personal information via the internet when such access is feasible and only if that access can be provided in a secure manner.
Terms Used In N.Y. State Technology Law 205
- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Internet: shall mean a system of linked computer networks, international in scope, that facilitate data transmission and exchange. See N.Y. State Technology Law 202
- Personal information: shall mean any information concerning a natural person which, because of name, number, symbol, mark or other identifier, can be used to identify that natural person. See N.Y. State Technology Law 202
- State agency website: shall mean an internet website operated by or for a state agency. See N.Y. State Technology Law 202
- User: shall mean any natural person who uses the internet to access a state agency website. See N.Y. State Technology Law 202
