§ 67. Presentation of claims for torts: actions against towns. 1. Any claim including a claim specified in section sixty-five-a of this chapter which may be made against the town or town superintendent of highways for damages for wrong or injury to person or property or for the death of a person, shall be made and served in compliance with § 50-e of the general municipal law.

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.

2. Every action upon such claim shall be commenced pursuant to the provisions of § 50-i of the general municipal law.

3. This section shall not apply to actions upon claims for damages or compensation for property taken by condemnation for any public purpose.
