Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 115C-153

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3

The State Board of Education shall be the sole State agency for the State administration of career and technical education at all levels, shall be designated as the State Board of Career and Technical Education, and shall have all necessary authority to cooperate with any and all federal agencies in the administration of national acts assisting career and technical education, to administer any legislation pursuant thereto enacted by the General Assembly of North Carolina, and to cooperate with local boards of education in providing career and technical education programs, services, and activities for youth and adults residing in the areas under their jurisdiction.
