- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
In exercising the authority conferred by N.C. Gen. Stat. § 115C-366(b), each local board of education may, in making assignments of pupils, give individual written notice of assignment, on each pupil’s report card or by written notice by any other feasible means, to the parent or guardian of each child or the person standing in loco parentis to the child, or may give notice of assignment of groups or categories of pupils by publication at least two times in some newspaper having general circulation in the local administrative unit.
