Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 123-12

  • Acquittal:
    1. Judgement that a criminal defendant has not been proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
    2. A verdict of "not guilty."
     

Every officer impeached shall be suspended from the exercise of his office until his acquittal. (1868-9, c. 168, s. 13; Code, s. 2934; Rev., s. 4634; C.S., s. 6255.)
