Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 143-283.2

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. The purpose of this Article is to carry on a continuing program to promote the employment of the physically, mentally, emotionally, and otherwise handicapped citizens of North Carolina by creating statewide interest in the rehabilitation and employment of the handicapped, and by obtaining and maintaining cooperation with all public and private groups and individuals in this field. The Governor’s Council shall work in close cooperation with the President’s Committee on Employment of the Physically Handicapped to more effectively carry out the purpose of this Article, and with State and federal agencies having responsibilities for employment and rehabilitation of the handicapped.
