Members of the Commission shall serve without compensation but may receive travel and subsistence as follows:
(1) Commission members who are officials or employees of a State agency or unit of local government, in accordance with N.C. Gen. Stat. § 138-6

- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. (2) All other Commission members at the rate established in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 138-5 (1998-1, s. 3(a).)
