Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 53-170

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.

(a) Business Location. – A licensee may conduct and carry on the licensee’s business only at one or more locations approved by the Commissioner, and no changes shall be made from one location to another without the approval of the Commissioner.

(b) Additional Places of Business. – Not more than one place of business shall be maintained under the same license, but the Commissioner may issue more than one license to the same licensee upon compliance with all the provisions of this Article governing issuance of a single license.

(c) Change of Location, Ownership, or Management. – If any change occurs in the name and address of the licensee or of the president, secretary, or agent of a corporation holding a license, or in the membership of any partnership holding a license, a true and full statement of the change, sworn to in the manner required by this Article in the case of the original application, shall be filed with the Commissioner within 90 days of the change.
