Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 53-385

  • Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
  • Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3

Within 90 days after the filing of a notice described in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 53-379, the Commissioner shall file an inventory of the assets and liabilities, not including assets and liabilities held in accounts of the State trust company, of the State trust company. A copy of the inventory shall be filed with the clerk of the superior court of the county in which the action is pending, and a copy shall be kept on file with the State trust company. The inventory shall be open for inspection during usual business hours, provided that nothing herein shall require the State trust company to remain open unnecessarily.
