The Commissioner may adopt rules to provide for audits and opinions of insurers’ financial statements by certified public accountants. These rules shall be substantially similar to the NAIC model rule that requires audited financial reports, as amended. The Commissioner may adopt, amend, or repeal provisions of these rules under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 150B-21.1 in order to keep these rules current with the NAIC model rule. (1989, c. 485, s. 38; 1998-212, s. 26B(g).)
