Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 58-58-400

  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.

A pattern of failures to meet the requirements of this Part may constitute an unfair claims settlement practice under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 58-3-100(a)(5) and N.C. Gen. Stat. § 58-63-15. Nothing in this Part shall be construed to create or imply a private cause of action for a violation of this Part. (2015-236, s. 1.)
