Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 62-280
- Commission: means the North Carolina Utilities Commission. See North Carolina General Statutes 62-3
- Highway: means any road or street in this State used by the public or dedicated or appropriated to public use. See North Carolina General Statutes 62-3
- Motor vehicle: means any vehicle, machine, tractor, semi-trailer, or any combination thereof, which is propelled or drawn by mechanical power and used upon the highways within the State. See North Carolina General Statutes 62-3
- State: means the State of North Carolina; "state" means any state. See North Carolina General Statutes 62-3
(a) No carrier of household goods shall operate any motor vehicle upon a highway, public street, or public vehicular area within the State in the transportation of household goods for compensation in violation of the provisions of N.C. Gen. Stat. § 20-398
(b) The Utilities Commission may assess a civil penalty not in excess of five thousand dollars ($5,000) for the violation of subsection (a) of this section. The clear proceeds of any civil penalties collected pursuant to this subsection shall be remitted to the Civil Penalty and Forfeiture Fund in accordance with N.C. Gen. Stat. § 115C-457.2 (2011-244, s. 2.)
