Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 66-71.9

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3

(a) The Secretary of State shall develop, implement, and maintain a searchable online database of assumed business name information reported under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 66-71.10 The system must allow information to be entered and retrieved from the system by the registers of deeds and must be available for searches by the public.

(b) The Secretary of State may adopt rules to implement the statewide online database. (2016-100, s. 2; 2017-23, s. 1.)
