Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 90-210.135
- Board: means the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service. See North Carolina General Statutes 90-210.121
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Cremation: means the technical process, using intense heat and flame, that reduces human remains to bone fragments. See North Carolina General Statutes 90-210.121
- Cremation society: means any person, firm, corporation, or organization that is affiliated with a crematory licensed under this Article and provides cremation information to consumers. See North Carolina General Statutes 90-210.121
No person, firm, or corporation licensed as a crematory under the provisions of this Article may operate a cremation society without first registering the name of the cremation society with the Board. (2007-531, s. 25.)
