Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 95-25.20

  • Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
  • wage: includes sick pay, vacation pay, severance pay, commissions, bonuses, and other amounts promised when the employer has a policy or a practice of making such payments. See North Carolina General Statutes 95-25.2

Files and other records relating to investigations and enforcement proceedings pursuant to this Article, or pursuant to Article 21 of this Chapter with respect to Wage and Hour Act violations, shall not be subject to inspection and examination as authorized by N.C. Gen. Stat. § 132-6 while such investigations and proceedings are pending. Nothing under this section shall impede the right to discovery under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 1A-1, Rules of Civil Procedure.
