Any person summoned to be a witness at any investigation conducted by the state fire marshal or by a deputy state fire marshal under the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a class B misdemeanor who:

- Person: means an individual, organization, government, political subdivision, or government agency or instrumentality. See North Dakota Code 1-01-49
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See North Dakota Code 1-01-49
1. Refuses to be sworn; 2. Refuses to testify; 3. Disobeys any lawful order of the state fire marshal or of any deputy state fire marshal relating to an investigation; 4. Fails or refuses to produce any paper, book, or document touching any matter under investigation upon the order of the officer conducting the investigation; or
5. Behaves contemptuously toward such officer.
