Ohio Code 109.748 – Rules governing the training of tactical medical professionals to carry firearms
The attorney general shall adopt, in accordance with Chapter 119. or pursuant to section 109.74 of the Revised Code, the following rules:
(A) Rules governing the training of tactical medical professionals to qualify them to carry firearms while on duty under section 109.771 of the Revised Code. The rules shall specify the amount of training necessary for the satisfactory completion of training programs at approved peace officer training schools, other than the Ohio peace officer training academy. The rules shall include all of the following:
(1) For all such professionals, a requirement that the professional shall receive firearms training through a program approved by the Ohio peace officer training commission and training in any additional subjects deemed necessary by the Ohio peace officer training commission.
(2) For such professionals seeking certification to carry a rifle or carbine, a requirement that, in addition to the training described in division (A)(1) of this section, the professional shall receive training with respect to the carrying and use of rifles and carbines through a program approved by the Ohio peace officer training commission.
(B) Rules authorizing and governing the attendance of tactical medical professionals at approved peace officer training schools, including the Ohio peace officer training academy, to receive training to qualify them to carry firearms while on duty under section 109.771 of the Revised Code, and the certification of the professionals upon their satisfactory completion of training programs providing that training.
