The court may order a party to undergo a physical examination for the purpose of obtaining life insurance and may order this party to pay any premiums on such policy, except in cases in which the life insurance policy has been obtained under ORS § 107.820 (3). If life insurance is obtained by a spouse or former spouse with an insurable interest, the person obtaining the policy is responsible for all premiums to be paid and for the choice of policy type and amount. If either party owns life insurance on the life of the paying spouse, and it is allowed to lapse for any reason during the suit, upon the request of the party receiving support, the paying spouse can be ordered to submit to a physical examination for the purpose of renewing the policy, if such examination is a requirement for renewal.
