Except for offenses based on municipal or county ordinances, in a criminal action the State of Oregon is the plaintiff and the person prosecuted is the defendant. [1973 c.836 § 3]
Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 131.025
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
- Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
