The Department of Justice may delegate to officers and employees of the Department of Revenue the authority to undertake and complete certain filings and other tasks relating to tax claims pending before a United States Bankruptcy Court that the Department of Justice has identified as being routine tasks. [1997 c.84 § 7]

  • Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.
