The procedures and requirements regarding the preparation, circulation and filing of a petition in a district under ORS § 198.705 to 198.955 apply to the preparation, circulation and filing of a petition in a city, except that the duties of the secretary of the district board as described in ORS § 198.765 and 198.770 shall be performed by the elections officer of the city. The governing body of a city shall perform the duties of the district board in ORS § 198.705 to 198.955 in regard to a petition filed with the city. [1983 c.142 § 9]
