The Department of State Lands shall ascertain the amount of land to which it is entitled under the Acts of Congress relative to submersible and swamp lands, acquire title thereto and enter into contracts for drainage and reclamation in order that the lands may be available for development and settlement.   • Department: means the Department of State Lands. See Oregon Statutes 273.006
  • Land: includes water, water rights, easements of every nature and all appurtenances to land. See Oregon Statutes 273.006
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
