Wherever it is provided by law that any action or proceeding of any county, city, school district or other municipal corporation or body politic shall be taken with respect to a budget or tax levy for the calendar year, or for a fiscal year closing on any day other than June 30, each such action or proceeding shall be taken with respect to the fiscal year commencing on July 1 and closing on June 30.

- City: includes any incorporated village or town. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
