The Department of Human Services shall cooperate with the United States Government, departments and agencies of the State of Oregon and the counties of the state in providing general assistance, either direct relief, community work and training, medical and hospital care or other services for needy persons and shall receive, disburse or distribute all sums of money, commodities and other properties from the United States Government, departments or agencies of the State of Oregon and counties of the state for assistance purposes for needy persons. - General assistance: means assistance or service of any character provided to needy persons not otherwise provided for to the extent of such need and the availability of funds, including medical, surgical and hospital or other remedial care. See Oregon Statutes 411.010
- United States: includes territories, outlying possessions and the District of Columbia. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
