Immediately after a judgment has been rendered in favor of a recipient or a settlement or compromise has been agreed upon, the person or public body, agency or commission bound by such judgment, settlement or compromise shall notify the Department of Human Services or the Oregon Health Authority. After such notification the department or the authority shall send a statement of the amount of its lien to such person or public body, agency or commission by registered mail or by certified mail with return receipt. - Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
- Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
- public body: means state government bodies, local government bodies and special government bodies. See Oregon Statutes 174.109
- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
