(1) Upon issuance of a permit pursuant to ORS § 522.115, the Director of the Department of Environmental Quality shall accept applications for such appropriate permits under air and water pollution control laws as are necessary for the drilling of a geothermal well for which the permit has been issued and shall, within 30 days, act upon such application.

(2) The director shall continue to exercise enforcement authority over a permit issued pursuant to this section; and shall have primary responsibility in carrying out the policy set forth in ORS § 468A.010, 468B.015 and rules adopted pursuant to ORS § 468B.030, for air and water pollution control at geothermal wells which have been unlawfully abandoned, unlawfully suspended, or completed.
