Oregon Statutes 676.885 – Practice of surgical technology in health care facility in rural or medically underserved community
(1) A health care facility in a rural or medically underserved community may allow a person to practice as a surgical technologist at the health care facility who does not meet the requirements of ORS § 676.875 while the person is attending an educational program for surgical technologists accredited by a national accreditation organization approved by the Oregon Health Authority by rule.

- Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
(2) A person described in subsection (1) of this section is exempt from the requirements of ORS § 676.875 for three years from the date on which the person began practicing as a surgical technologist at the health care facility. [2015 c.373 § 3]
Sections 2 and 3, chapter 65, Oregon Laws 2022, provide:
The State Apprenticeship and Training Council, in coordination with the Bureau of Labor and Industries, shall study registered apprenticeship programs in surgical technology, including graduation and placement rates. The council shall submit findings and recommendations to an interim committee of the Legislative Assembly related to health care not later than September 1, 2025. [2022 c.65 § 2]
Section 2 of this 2022 Act is repealed on January 1, 2026. [2022 c.65 § 3]
