Oregon Statutes 748.501 – Examination
(1) The Director of the Department of Consumer and Business Services, or any person the director may appoint, may examine any domestic, foreign or alien society transacting or applying for admission to transact business in this state in the same manner as authorized for examination of domestic, foreign or alien insurers. Requirements of notice and an opportunity to respond before findings are made public as provided in the laws regulating insurers shall also be applicable to the examination of societies.
Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 748.501
- Laws: means the society's articles of incorporation, constitution and bylaws, however designated. See Oregon Statutes 748.103
- Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
- Society: means fraternal benefit society, unless otherwise indicated. See Oregon Statutes 748.103
(2) The expense of each examination and of each valuation, including compensation and actual expense of examiners, shall be paid by the society examined or whose certificates are valued, upon statements furnished by the director. [1987 c.490 § 29]
