(1) In all counties containing more than 700,000 inhabitants, according to the latest federal decennial census, the governing body of the county may:

Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 9.820

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • judicial department: means the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Oregon Tax Court, the circuit courts and all administrative divisions of those courts, whether denominated as boards, commissions, committees or departments or by any other designation. See Oregon Statutes 174.113

(a) Enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the Judicial Department to provide law library services; or

(b) Enter into a contract with any law library association or corporation owning and maintaining a law library in the county at or convenient to the courthouse, for the use of the library by the judges of the circuit and county courts, county commissioners, district attorney and all members of the bar.
