(a)  Any city and town local educational authority may contract with RIVESP to establish and operate programs for the blind and visually impaired.

Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 16-26.1-4

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • town: may be construed to include city; the words "town council" include city council; the words "town clerk" include city clerk; the words "ward clerk" include clerk of election district; the words "town treasurer" include city treasurer; and the words "town sergeant" include city sergeant. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-9

(b)  When these programs are operated by the RIVESP, each participating city or town shall be assessed for the cost of the program. The assessments shall be deposited in a restricted receipt account for the purpose of funding expenditures necessary to operate the regional program.
