No license or renewal of a license to act as a surplus line broker shall be issued under § 27-3-38 and § 27-3-39 [repealed] until there has been paid to the insurance commissioner, for the use of the state, a fee of fifty dollars ($50.00).

- Commissioner: means the insurance commissioner of Rhode Island or his or her designee, deputies or staff, or the commissioner, director or superintendent of insurance in any other state. See Rhode Island General Laws 27-3-38.2
