(a)  No person shall knowingly make, sell or otherwise make available any invalid or counterfeit evidence of financial security as defined in this chapter. No person shall alter any invalid evidence of financial security to make it appear valid.

Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 31-47-9.1

  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Person: includes every natural person, firm, partnership, association, or corporation. See Rhode Island General Laws 31-47-2

(b)  Any person convicted of a violation of this section shall be guilty of a felony and shall be punished by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500), nor more than three thousand dollars ($3,000), or imprisonment of not more than one year, or both.
