Rhode Island General Laws 33-15.2-205. Exclusive and continuing jurisdiction

Except as otherwise provided in § 33-15.2-204, a court that has appointed a guardian or issued a protective order consistent with this chapter has exclusive and continuing jurisdiction over the proceeding until it is terminated by the court or the appointment or order expires by its own terms.

Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 33-15.2-205
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Protective order: means an order appointing a conservator or another court order related to management of an adult's property. See Rhode Island General Laws 33-15.2-102
