Rhode Island General Laws 5-63.2-23. Penalties for violations
(a) It is a misdemeanor for any person, in offering his or her services to the public to:
(1) Use in connection with his or her name any designation tending to imply that he or she is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and/or licensed marriage and family therapist unless licensed under the provisions of this chapter;
(2) Use in connection with his or her name any designation tending to imply that he or she is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and/or licensed marriage and family therapist during the time his or her license issued under the provisions of this chapter is suspended or revoked; or
(3) Violate any of the provisions of this chapter.
Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 5-63.2-23
- Clinical mental health counselor: means a person who is licensed pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws 5-63.2-2
- Marriage and family therapist: means a person who is licensed pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws 5-63.2-2
- Person: means any individual, firm, corporation, partnership, organization, or body politic. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-63.2-2
(b) All the misdemeanors shall be punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500) for each offense.
