Rhode Island General Laws 5-65-26. Notice of final order – Service of process
In any final order or decision of the board or office determining that a contractor has violated the provisions of this chapter or the regulations promulgated thereunder, the board or office is hereby authorized to assess against the contractor the costs of service of process up to but not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000). The assessment shall be limited to the actual cost of the service of process or one thousand dollars ($1,000), whichever is less. The board shall provide the contractor with proof of costs evidencing the expense for the service of process upon request.

Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 5-65-26
- Board: means the contractors' registration and licensing board established pursuant to the provisions of § 5-65-14 or its designees. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-65-1
- Contractor: includes , but is not limited to, any person who purchases or owns property and constructs, or for compensation arranges for the construction of, one or more structures. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-65-1
- Office: means the state building office established pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws 5-65-1
- Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
