- Auricular acudetox: means the subcutaneous insertion of sterile, disposable acupuncture needles in consistent, predetermined bilateral locations on the ear in accordance with the NADA protocol. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- board: means the board of licensing for chemical dependency professionals. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Clergy: includes any minister, priest, rabbi, Christian Science practitioner, or any other similar religious counselor. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Department: means the Rhode Island department of health. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Director: means the director of the Rhode Island department of health. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Experience: means six thousand (6,000) hours of supervised practice of chemical dependency counseling in a department of behavioral healthcare, developmental disabilities and hospitals licensed or ICRC/AODA member-board-approved facility during a sixty-month (60) period of time immediately preceding the date of application for licensure. - General supervision: means available by telephone, cellphone, or electronic means during business hours. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Licensed chemical dependency clinical supervisor: means an individual licensed by the department of health to practice and supervise substance-abuse counseling and who meets the qualifications established in this chapter. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Licensed chemical dependency professional: means an individual licensed by the department of health to practice substance-abuse counseling and who meets the qualifications established in this chapter. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Member board: means the Rhode Island board for certification of chemical dependency professionals. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
- oath: includes affirmation; the word "sworn" includes affirmed; and the word "engaged" includes either sworn or affirmed. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-11
- person: may be construed to extend to and include co-partnerships and bodies corporate and politic. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-6
- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
- Substance abuse: means addictive (chronic or habitual) consumption, injection, inhalation, or behavior of/with a substance (such as alcohol and drugs), progressively injuring and afflicting the user's psychological, physical, social, economic, and/or spiritual functioning. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- Supervision: means no less than one hour per week and consists of individual or group supervision with a clinician licensed or certified in substance-abuse counseling with education, supervisory experience, and ethics approved by the ICRC/AODA member. See Rhode Island General Laws 5-69-2
- United States: include the several states and the territories of the United States. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-8
